Sundarbans
The World Heritage Committee of UNESCO included 'The Sundarbans' in its World Heritage List. Dotted with innumerable creeks, canals the tributaries of the river Ganga and 54 small islands the Sundarbans is the natural heritage of West Bengal and is considered as the largest Estuarine Forest in the world. The dense mangroves in the mud flats, the birds sanctuaries in Lothian island and Sajnekhali, the hatchery cum sanctuary of crocodiles at Bhagabatpur, the large number of brackish water fish, prawns and crabs, the dense forest at Kalashdwip and The royal Bengal Tigers in the Tiger Reserve, all taken together offer an mystery to be unraveled.
