Temples

Many world famous religious pilgrim centres are in Andhra Pradesh. Tirupati, the abode of god Venkateswara, is most visited. Srisailam, in the Nallamala Hills, has one of the  twelve Jyothirlingas in India. Shiva temple in Amaravathi, Yadagirigutta, the temple of Lakshmi Narasimha, Simhachalam, Mantralayam,  Kanaka Durga Temple in Vijayawada in Krishna District, Venkateswara Temple in Dwarakatirumala, West Godavari District (also called Chinna Tirupathi), Surya temple in Arasavelli in Srikakulam District, Satyanarayana swamy temple in Annavaram, Sri Kalahasti on  the banks of river Swarnamukhi in Chittoor, Bhadrachalam for the Sri Rama temple and the Godavari river, Basar - Saraswathi temple are a few to mention. The Badami Chalukyas built the Alampur Bhrama temples.

Buddhist centers

Buddhist centres are located at Amaravati, Nagarjuna Konda, Bhattiprolu, Ghantasala, Nelakondapalli, Dhulikatta, Bavikonda, Thotlakonda, Shalihundam, Pavuralakonda, Sankaram, Phanigiri and Kolanpaka.
