Ganapathi Pule

Visit this picturesque little town lying around the Konkan Coast of Maharashtra. Lined with fantastic beaches’ , long stretches of palm trees, casuarinas farms , small rustic fishing villages and cool singing zephyrs makes it one of Maharashtra’s virgin beaches…..

The name Ganapatipule is derived from the legend that Lord Ganapathi (a Hindu God), on being insulted by a local woman, changed his abode from Glue to Pule, and thus the town came to be known as Ganapatipule.  It houses the famous 4000 year old ‘Swayambhu Ganapathi temple’ (self made temple) ,located on the foot of a hill is a revered place for piligrimage.There is a pathway shaped like god Ganapathi going  around the temple to pay obeisance to the god.

The serene, demure, unspoiled villages with abound scenic greenery warm people and cheerful surroundings welcome the tourists and pilgrims and make them feel at home.

Places to Visit

Malgund village is the birthplace of the famous Marathi Poet Keshavsoot. This small, yet beautiful village is frequented by visitors who come to take a look at the renovated and converted house of the poet, now a student's hostel. A beautiful monument called "Keshavsoot Smarak" is constructed in the memory of this poet.

This beautiful and peaceful place is famous for the ashram of Swami Swaroopanand (a spiritual leader who influenced the people of Maharashtra).

On Konkan Railway Bhoke is 35 Kms. However the convenient railhead Ratnagiri is 45 Kms.

By Road
Mumbai - Ganapatipule is 375 Kms.
Pune - Ganapatipule is 331 Kms.
Belgaum - Ganapatipule is 299 Kms.
S. T. Buses ply from Mumbai and Ratnagiri to Ganapatipule.
