The Middle East is home to some of the world's most significant cities - Jerusalem, Cairo, Damascus, Baghdad and Istanbul. The Middle East region lies in Western Asia and North-eastern Africa. The term, Middle East, was created by British military strategists in the 19th century.

The Middle East is quite simply extraordinary, one of the world's most fascinating and rewarding travel destinations. It was here that some of the most significant civilizations rose and fell. It’s also from here that three great religions - Judaism, Christianity and Islam - were born. Today, the ruins of ancient cities and monuments speak a lot about the ancient times gone by.

The Middle East nations include:

Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Palestinian Territories, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Yemen

Arabs, Jews, Persians and Turks are the largest groups, but there are several substantial minorities like — the Kurds, Armenians and others — with their own languages, customs and their own countries. Almost every country in the Middle East has a Muslim majority. However, Israel has a Jewish majority.

How to Reach:

Dubai has the largest airport in the region. From Dubai it is easy to reach any point in the Middle East. After Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Tehran and Istanbul are the ones with good intercontinental connections. Tel Aviv is served by flights from most Western countries, though due to the political situation, it is not possible to fly from there to anywhere in the Middle East besides Turkey, Egypt and Jordan. However, there are direct flights from large European hubs to most major cities in the region.

English language is quite common in tourist areas and generally rare elsewhere.
