Geography

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) comprises seven members: Abu Dhabi (the capital city), Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah.

Dubai is the second largest city in emirates. It is situated on the banks of the Dubai Creek that divides the city into the Deira district to the north, and Bur Dubai on the south. The official language is Arabic. English is widely understood.

Climate

The UAE has a sub-tropical and an arid climate. Rainfall is irregular, and mainly occurs during winter. Temperatures range from a low of about 10 degrees Celsius to a high of 48 degrees Celsius.

The best time to visit the UAE is from October up until May. In October the temperatures hover near 35 degree C. Daytime temperatures during November, December, January and February is around 24 degrees C. The evenings will be cool at 13 degrees C. Between March and April the temperatures begin to rise. The period from June to September should be avoided when it is very hot. However, hotels and golf clubs and other facilities are very good.
